Merienda @ Polland

There are many restaurants in Binondo and Escolata that cater delicious Chinese foods. I've eaten in some of those restaurants and my tongue was really in awe by its tastes.

Yesterday, Connie and I went to Escolata to accompany Madam to buy a LED television.  After doing so, we decided to take a little rest and eat merienda at Polland.

Polland is one of the Chinese Restaurants located in Escolta, Manila and has other branch in Binondo and Quezon City. This restaurant offers one of the best tasting hopia in town. Aside from Hopia, they are also known for sumptuous foods like Wanton Noodles, Pancit Canton, Siomai, Pork and Beef, etc.

What we went for in Polland was the Fresh Lumpia for only P70.00.

The place is cozy and relaxing. The waiters and waitress are also very warm and accommodating.

Before I end this, let us turn back the hands of time and open a few pages in the history of the well-known Escolta.

My mother told me that Escolta was once the cultual and economic center of the Philippines.  It is strategically positioned between other business hubs like Intramuros and Binondo. It is also near Pasig River.  The industry in Escolta developed vigorously during those years and once was tagged as the Queen of Streets.  Escolta was once a popular place to go around like Makati, BGC, etc. But the said place never seemed to have recover since the US troops bombed it during World War II.

Escolta remains to be one of the key streets in Manila. There are still many other business that operate in the area. I wish the government or whoever is in position to make a campaign for Escolta to be how it use to be.

Barangay Silog at Nagtahan

Last Thursday, July 7, 2016, after I've done my mini-grocery at Unilever with Nica, Janelle and Harold, we decided to have our dinner at Barangay Silog near Savemore in Nagtahan, Manila.

Though the area was crowded with people, this resto, was half filled when we came it. It was clean. The lights and the colors suit the mood of the customers. I am not sure about the other branches, but here in Savemore, Nagtahan branch, it has a good ambiance. No "ewww" feeling.

The price of their food is very affordable especially for students.  We ordered spagsilog (combination of Spaghetti and Itlog). For me it doesn't taste good and I don't find itlog in a spaghetti a nice idea. (hehehe! peace!) Aside from that we also ordered soup, tapa, egg, fried siomai and longanisa and another kind of longanisa that we thought a barbecue.

Definitely Beyond Coffee

After madam Flor, Marivic and I finished our dinner at Marso cafe and restaurant, Madam needed to go home because her mother dear was already waiting for her.

My frappe and coffee buddy, Marivic and I, decided to have our dessert at Beyond Coffee Cafe.

The place is a little bit small.  When we arrived, it was jam packed with people of all ages. Honestly, I really love the place although it may appear too crowded when filled with many customers. It develops a closer or an intimate mood either with a family or a friend. The ambiance will definitely bring you into a new dimension.

The manager and staff were all accommodating as they assisted us to the lobby area while waiting for our order to be served.

Since we just came from a heavy meal, Vic and I only ordered Dali's Delight (a refreshingly different cold coffee with a touch of hazelnut and caramel topped with whipped cream) and the yummy pastillas cheesecake which both tasted so well that you will really ask for more.

Pastillas Cheesecake and Dali's Delight

Ask us if we will come back here? Definitely, YES, we will!

Beyond Coffee is located at P. Paredes Street in Sampaloc, Manila. They serve cafe and Italaian food and they are open daily from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Experience dinner @ Marso Cafe and Restaurant

Madam Flor, Marivic and I had our usual food trip today. This time, we decided to try Marzo Fafe and Restaurant.

(I got this photo from the net. I wasn't able to take a photo because it's already dark outside)

Marso Cafe and Restaurant highlights Filipino Cusine and is located at 2790 Cabildo corner Andres Soriano St., Intramuros, Manila.  The cafe is open from Monday to Sunday from 7 am to 6 pm. It is accessible to employees working and people living within the vicinity of Intramuros.

Actually, this restaurant is not new to me. I have eaten here several times. The place is usual as the other restaurant but it is clean and comfy and has a touch of homy feeling.

We ordered Sinigang na Hipon, Fried Chicken, Sweet and Sour Pork, Sisig, rice and 3 bottomless iced tea.

The foods were served a few minutes after we ordered and it tasted delicious that it really filled our hungry stomachs.

The foods are a little bit pricey but it's worth it.
