Merienda @ Polland

There are many restaurants in Binondo and Escolata that cater delicious Chinese foods. I've eaten in some of those restaurants and my tongue was really in awe by its tastes.

Yesterday, Connie and I went to Escolata to accompany Madam to buy a LED television.  After doing so, we decided to take a little rest and eat merienda at Polland.

Polland is one of the Chinese Restaurants located in Escolta, Manila and has other branch in Binondo and Quezon City. This restaurant offers one of the best tasting hopia in town. Aside from Hopia, they are also known for sumptuous foods like Wanton Noodles, Pancit Canton, Siomai, Pork and Beef, etc.

Inside Polland

What we went for in Polland was the Fresh Lumpia for only P70.00.

The Menu

The place is cozy and relaxing. The waiters and waitress are also very warm and accommodating.

Before I end this, let us turn back the hands of time and open a few pages in the history of the well-known Escolta.

My mother told me that Escolta was once the cultual and economic center of the Philippines.  It is strategically positioned between other business hubs like Intramuros and Binondo. It is also near Pasig River.  The industry in Escolta developed vigorously during those years and once was tagged as the Queen of Streets.  Escolta was once a popular place to go around like Makati, BGC, etc. But the said place never seemed to have recover since the US troops bombed it during World War II.

Escolta remains to be one of the key streets in Manila. There are still many other business that operate in the area. I wish the government or whoever is in position to make a campaign for Escolta to be how it use to be.
